Tara Palepoi

Hailama Designs “Sharing our Aloha through Style” I started this business just to make plus size clothing that was affordable and stylish for my ohana. We recently started a new business called “The Aloha Express” courier & delivery services on the Big Island. My passion is talking story a.k.a marketing! I love to share with others my story in hopes to encourage them to pursue their entrepreneurial experience. We are always looking for opportunities to pay it forward and give back. My true success has come from helping others. Not focusing so much on the money aspect of business, but more of finding your passion and creating a vehicle or tool to help you get there. Mine? Is creating Hailama products that allow me to meet new people, share my story, and encourage them to seek theirs. There is no more brick and mortar, but today, it’s ‘click and order.’ Anyone hungry enough to be financially independent, can create something from home, and sell it online. Sounds hard but it’s really not.

Sam Mangakahia

Sam Mangakahia Photo
Sam Mangakahia is the founder and owner of Shaka Tribe (shakatribeshop.com) together with his wife Chalei. Sam grew up on the east coast of Australia, with a background of Maori, Fijian, British, and Welsh. “You either create your own culture, or you become subject to the one around you.” We hope our message can inspire people not to accept the stereotypes they are “defined” as but rather create an identity based on their divine worth and truths. As a cultural artist and a Polynesian-inspired brand, there are many hardships. Few people know about the meanings and history of Polynesian art. It’s a constant learning experience of how we can introduce this subject in a simple yet powerful way. To us, success is helping one person at a time to create a more meaningful and positive outlook on themselves and others.
